Humble Beginnings

I remember the time I didn't know we lived in the projects. I was going to Davis Elementary School and another student was like "oh you live in the projects". I didn't have a clue what that was. I was too young then. I didn't know that the food from Fletcher Johnson's clinic was for "poor" people. I happily walked with my Mother to get the juice, cheese, meat in the can, powdered milk and eggs. We ate off that food like it was top tier. I tell you one thing, I'll never forget where I came from. It's not a glamorous place however it's a place that taught me resilience and love. Being able to live where I grew up is a blessing. The fact that I can see the window to the house I came home to as a baby from the living room of my current house is humbling. I don't live in my past, however, I'll never forget it. #GoalDigger #BenningTerrace #NeverForget #TheOtherSideOfTheChurch
